Training with COEJL

COEJL, the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life, has enlisted JOIN to train Jewish green activists from around the country in community organizing to help them organize their communities and organizations on behalf of COEJL’s Jewish Energy Network.  The Jewish Energy Network is a dynamic campaign to seriously reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions by 2014, the next shmittah, or sabbatical, year in the Jewish calendar.  Slots are available for the training in Washington, DC on March 13 – 14 for people who are called to be part of the grass roots movement against global climate change.  Leaders who attend will gain concrete skills that they can use to take action on climate change and energy dependence at their synagogues and Jewish organizations. Participants will commit to initiate an energy advocacy or reduction initiative at their synagogue or Jewish organization.  COEJL will mentor participants during their campaigns to help them reach their goals and will bring them in to an engaged community of fellow Jewish Energy champions.
