In Philadelphia, POWER (Philadelphians Organized to Witness, Empower, and Rebuild) recently won increases in wages for approximately 1500 food and retail workers at Philadelphia International Airport. Due to POWER and local union’s campaigns for economic justice at the airport, the City has agreed to require all concessioners to pay $10.88/hr up from an average of $8/hr – meaning $6.4 million more for working Philadelphians per year. POWER is a faithbased community organizing group affiliated with the PICO Network and the Campaign for Working Families.
